On 11/5/2017, the Everylife Foundation for Rare Diseases, Rare Disease Legislative Advocates (RDLA) – 2017 Rare Voice (“Abby Meyer”) Awards were held at the Arena Stage Theater in Washington DC. Rare Voice Awards are an annual celebration to honor those who give rare disease patients a voice in state and federal policy. The 2017 award winners were described as “inspiring, legends, heroes, game-changers, courageous and passionate”. Awards were based on nominees’ scores for leadership, risk-taking, cooperation, overall success and effectiveness and the impact their efforts made on helping rare disease patients.
